University project: The site is on old crayfish factory on a secluded coast. In this dissertation I attempt to explore notions of healing and well-being surrounding water and ritual. Water and ritual go hand in hand. Religions and myths formed around water’s life-giving properties, its association with cleanliness, its vastness and Its destructiveness. These rituals have to do with cleansing and purification, meditation and union with a deity. According to philosophers like Freud and Koestler, water is on integral part of human cognitive development and plays on Integral role In our reasons for seeking rituals in our lives. Mystics and healers use ritual as transportation to a pre-developmental state in which the distinction between self and other is obscured. The ocean brings about fear and delight simultaneously.
